In a far far away land, miles down in the sea lived a beautiful mermaid, named . She was the youngest of 7 daughters and always wandering around in the big blue, looking around for treasures in shipwrecks that had gone down in unfaithful thunderstorms. She collected things and brought them to a cave, where she kept all her 'human treasures' as she called them. She had forks, spoons, knives, a music box, pearl necklaces, a compass, everything. But her one wish, was to have legs, be a human. Even if it was only for a day. She desperately longed to walk over the sands, dance to the music like the couple in the music box she had once found in one of the wrecks.
Her father king Neptune didn't know anything of this. He hated humans. He thought of them as disturbers of the watery peace, sailing over the sea's with their wooden monsters, eating fish, which tore up the closest fish families. He had forbidden his daughters and the other creatures that lived in the sea to ever go above the water. But off course couldn't resist going above and one night when she saw the surface sparkle with all kinds of colours she decided to go up.

Above the water, on a ship there was a big party. Prince was aboard and today was his birthday! 'Cheer up, Dave. The sea ain't all that bad, look how quiet the sealine is tonight' laughed, as Dave once again lurched over the railing. 'Well, maybe you should find a bride, so she can sail with you. I'm sure she can take the waves' Dave said, straightening up. 'A bride? Not again ey? Princes Layla was a disaster. No mate. When I find a girl, I want her to hit my heart like a lightning'.
A roaring thunder suddenly sounded, out of nowhere began a storm. Lightning struck and the highest mast came down and broke the ship. The ships crew had already gathered inside the lifeboat and while the ship was slowly sinking, Prince suddenly heard his dog barking. He jumped overboard and swam back to the boat, managing to catch a loose mast rope and then climbed back aboard. He picked up Max and threw him in the water. Another lightning crashed and a second mast came down, towards Prince . The crew and Dave could do nothing else but watch, terrified for the life of Prince , as the boat sank into its watery grave.

had seen all of this happen and when she saw a man’s body, floating lifelessly on the surface of the water, she swam back up. Recognizing the handsome prince she had been looking at earlier, she decided to bring him ashore to save his life. She knew it was against her fathers wishes and it could be very dangerous if she got caught, but she also knew, that if she didn't save this mans life, people above would be very sad by his death. The sea had calmed down again and , who was half a fish anyway, hadn't any problems to reach the shore. She stayed with all night, watching him, resting her ear to his chest to hear if he was still breathing and just watching his handsome features. His masculine body and his thick hair. Feeling her heart pound harder and harder the longer and more she watched him. She was falling in love with this gorgeous man. She felt so much love, that she had to sing a song.
As the first sunrays shone on his face, suddenly started to stir. He heard a beautiful woman's voice singing a magical, beautiful song. He opened his eyes and for a single second he saw her face. She had hair and eyes. The light blinded him and he closed his eyes. He heard a dog bark and a loud splash. Opening his eyes he hoped to see her again, but when he looked up it was Dave he saw. ', we thought we lost you' Dave was very emotional. 'I.. I think I was rescued Dave. She was here with me. She sang the most beautiful song I ever heard.' sat up and watched the sea. 'It was just you . No girl. You were lying here alone. Maybe that mast has hit you a bit too hard. Or you drank to much seawater. Come on, let's get you up to the castle.' Dave threw one of 's arms around his own shoulders and helped him up to the castle. still watched the sea, knowing for sure there had been a girl beside him and that she had saved his life. And that song. That beautiful, hopeful song, he just couldn’t get it out his head.

Deep down in the sea, swam happier then ever before. The most important thing was finding the shipwreck. She needed to see if this man, this prince had left something on it. She searched for the ship and couldn't believe her luck when she found it. She swam through it up and down, until she almost clung up against a hidden rock. The sheet that was wrapped over it, looked like it was about to explode and so tore it off. That way, everyone could see there was a rock, in the middle of the ship and no one would swim up against it. But when the sheet had gone, saw she had revealed an enormous statue of her new found love. 'Prince in honour of his 21st birthday.' was carved at the bottom. 'Prince , oohlala. Want to get married? What's that, you love me. Oh honey, I love you too’ sighed. 'Want to be alone, with me? OK' asked some strange fish, who were strong enough to help her to bring Prince 's statue to her cave. She couldn't do this by herself. In the meantime on the mainland, Prince let every girl in the area come to him, so they could sing for him. Deep down in the sea kept on singing and humming, the song that made her longing for mainland grew. She kept on going to her secret cave to spend time with 'her' Prince . She however didn't know, that she was being watched, by two evil eels, who were the helpers of the sea witch.

One morning, on her way out of the castle, passed her father. 'Morning father, beautiful day isn't it?' she smiled, kissed his cheek and swam out of the castle. 'Sebastian. I want you to follow that girl. Find out where she's going. I want to know all about the fish that has wrapped her around his fins' King Neptune said, and off the little crab went, quickly following the youngest princess, into deeper darker lower parts of the sea.
looked around, pushing aside the big stone that closed off her secret layer. She swam in, Sebastian swam in after her very fast. Getting in just in time before the big stone closed off the cave once more. Sebastian's eyes almost popped out of his shell. The familiar giggle came from the middle and Sebastian swam behind a large beer tank. Hanging around a big statue he saw the youngest princess caressing a big stone shaped in the figure of a man. Sebastian looked around and saw that had disobeyed all her fathers’ wishes. He found a way of getting out of the cave and went back to King Neptune with the news.
had once again just taken her vows and was about to put a ring made from seaweed around her finger when the stone behind her exploded. Her father came in, towering over her. 'I thought I had forbidden all merpeople to go above the surface', he thundered. 'Father, I only saved his life.' protected her statue of . 'I am King of this sea . If my own daughters do not obey the laws I set for our world, then who is?' Neptune asked, his voice still filled with anger. 'I love him father' shouted in tears of anger. 'He's human, he's not from our world. When are you going to realize men are disgusting creatures. They destroy and enter our world like they own it. And you are helping them.' Neptune thundered. He rose up his trident and started swirling it round, lightning burst from it and everything had ever collected was destroyed. Last was Prince 's statue and with it 's heart broke into a million pieces. Leaving his daughter in tears, Neptune returned home with a broken heart himself.
'Poor little princess. Has daddy broken your dreams?' one of the eels, swam past who was crying over her lost treasures. 'Go away' she sobbed. 'Guess, you don't want help then' 'Guess, you don't want to spend your life with your one true love' the eels hissed. 'What?' raised her head. 'That's right. If you come with us to the sea witch, all of your dreams could come true. You and your Prince united forever' the eels smiled develish. 'Bring me to her' demanded.
The eels brought the young princess to the sea witch and she knew how to convince the princess whose heart was blinded with love. The witch made sign a contract: in trade for a pair of legs, had to give up her voice. The contract however, could be broken.. If the Prince would kiss her in 3 days time, would get her voice back. The moment 's fins turned into legs, she lost the ability to swim and the two eels brought her to the surface.

On mainland, Prince once again, had dragged himself to the beach. Every girl in the country had come to the castle, and they all weren't her. None of them had been his life saving angel. Suddenly his dog Max excitedly barked and back and forwarded to him, decided to follow him and saw her. A girl 'dressed' in a ships-sail. For a split second, he thought that this could be her. ran to her. 'You’re her aren't you. You’re the girl that saved my life', he cried out in utter happiness. nodded and tried to talk, but remembered she didn't have a voice no longer. lost his hopes. 'You’re not her. I'm sorry. Come with me. I'll give you a room and some ehm..clothes.'
Back in the castle, was given a warm bath and a dress. Prince had sent her an invitation for dinner. Dave and were just having a conversation, when 's arrival was announced. was breathless as he saw the beauty coming at him. Her eyes stood out in the beautiful dress she was wearing and for a single moment, again thought that this girl was the girl who had saved his life, but was immediately reminded that this girl could not speak, so could not be the girl that had sang the most beautiful song for him. The song that was still being sung in his head. , who could not express herself vocally, enjoyed her night. And while she was having a tremendous night, deep down in the watery depths, her father made every fish, every shark, every merguard of his castle search for his youngest daughter, sighing in his thrown 'what have I done'.

Next day, Prince took his guest into town, they were driven in a coach, and they danced on the small square, and she fully enjoyed the feeling of his arm around her tiny waist. stayed close to him, everywhere they went. She was a handful to , but he enjoyed her company, he enjoyed to see the bright smile on her face. While they rode back to the caste he asked 'How about a rowing trip after dinner?' Seeing her nod excitedly, smiled. 'Great'.
During the boat trip, the sun settled into the sea, the air filled itself with a romantic tension. 'You know, if you could talk, you could tell me your name, and where you come from’, he softly spoke, taking her hand in his. If you could talk, then I could ask permission to..' his gazed into hers, and just when their lips were about to touch their small boat capsized.
Down in her cave, the evil sea witch laughed her evil laugh. 'Well done, boys.' In her hand she held the bottle that consumed 's voice. 'You're mine little princess, and so is your father. She swam to her cauldron and began to work on her evil plan.
When they had returned to the castle and had changed into dry clothes, Prince once again wandered off to the beach. Watching the room where stood, combing her hair in front of the window, he smiled as he thought back to what nearly happened during their boat trip. Suddenly her voice sounded. The most beautiful song he had ever heard. He turned around and in the fog of the nightly sea a beautiful, dark haired woman came towards him. Singing the song that was sung after his life was saved. It hypnotized him completely. He walked towards the woman.
woke happily the next morning. As she could still think, she was sure that Prince was going to tell her that he loved her. After all they almost had shared a kiss and if she could get him to kiss her, she wouldd have her voice back. She could tell him everything, and she could tell him how deeply in love she was. Hurriedly going down the steps, she startled as she saw a woman standing arm in arm with . Their back's turned to her. Dave looked shocked. 'But , you've only found her last night.' Dave tried to reason with the prince. 'Prepare the ship, we're setting sail tonight. We'll be wedded tonight.' Hearing the echo of the great hall echoing in her head, ran back up the stairs and locked herself in her room. She cried all day and only left her room to see the ship already had left the castle's harbour.

, who had made a close friendship with one of the seagulls that flew above the sea, was met by him on the harbour side. 'Do you know everyone is looking for you? What do you have to say for yourself lady.' gestured she didn't have a voice, which made it impossible for her to speak. 'You do know he's marrying some other girl. I'm off to have a glimpse.' The seagull took off and flew to the ship. When he reached the ship he heard a woman sing with a beautiful voice. He flew to her window and at that precise same moment, she looked into the mirror. The sea gull screeched as he did not see the beautiful lady, but the sea witch in the reflection. 'Little silly mermaid. Your kingdom will be mine and so will the mainland. All because of your precious voice', she caressed the necklace around her neck. When the seagull heard this he immediately flew back, to the devastated ever crying . 'It's the sea witch. The prince is marrying the sea witch. She has your voice, in a necklace. You have got to warn him. I'll go find troops. We're going to stop her . If it's the last thing I do'.
When heard this, she dived into the water and as good and bad as she could she began to swim. The seagull flew around everywhere and spread the story. When was half way the sea. Dolphins appeared and they took her with them to the ship.
On the ship itself, the wedding ceremony had started. Prince , still hypnotised, was about to say ‘I do’ when his bride was brutally attacked by army's of seagulls. 's seagull friend managed to snap the necklace's lace and it broke. Just as climbed on deck, her voice was returned to her. 's hypnosis had passed and then he heard 's voice call out for him. ', it was me. I saved your life!’. Then she started to sing the song again. remembered the eyes, the hair. 'And she's mine' another darker voice said behind him. turned and got a fright. Behind him stood a monstrous octopus womanly figure. 'Say goodbye to your true love Prince . She belongs to me now!’. turned again and saw lay on the deck, her legs had turned into fins, looking helplessly. 'I tried to tell you' she said almost in whisper. 'Goodbye' the sea witch passed him and went overboard together with , who screamed ’s name.

The sea witch however could not get far. Not even a mile underwater a harpoon scratched her arm. Prince had jumped overboard. He had lost once, he wasn't going to loose her again. From the other side King Neptune and his army approached. 'Your daughter is mine Neptune. We have a contract' the sea witch yelled. With a snap of her finger the contract appeared. Neptune raised his trident, but the lightnings couldn't destroy the contract. The sea witch laughed. 'Now, to deal with you' she turned her head towards and Prince who held each other tightly. Suddenly the witch seamed to grow and tower above everything. Even the guests on the weddingship screamed and panicked. Neptune swirled his trident around and by this, one of the shipwrecks began to rise. Prince saw the sharp ending and climbed on the ship while it rose from out of the sea. The monstrous witch began to laugh 'Fool, you think you can defeat me with that?'. The witch began swirling with one finger in the air and created a twister in the water. The ship got pulled in the strong whirling of the water, but Prince , used to sail in storms, knew how to diverse the rear and sailed straight into the witch, the sharp ending of the bow piercing right through her. The witch was destroyed, and in the water the contract exploded and everyone and everything that had ever been under the spells of her, was released. Prince had got blown of the shipwreck as the tentacles of the witch had wrapped themselves around the shipwreck while it was going down in the water.

A new day dawned and from a rock in the seashore watched unconscious. Her father watched her pain over the human that lay on the sand. 'Sebastian, do you think, if I make her come home with me, she'll be unhappy for the rest of her life?' he asked the crab next to him in the water. 'I think sire, and forgive me for saying this. I think you once said it yourself. You should be able to let your children have a life of their own' the crab said. 'Well there is only one thing left to do then....'. The king lay his trident on the water. A sparkly jet of golden light shot across the surface and was surprised when glimmering lights around her fins faded and there were two legs beneath her. She looked up and saw her fathers fins disappear into the sea.
On the beach, Prince woke from what seemed to be like a dream. He sat up and thought he was imagening things when he saw walking towards him. He got up and ran towards her, picking her up and swirling her around in the air. 'I love you, . I love you so much, with all my heart', he smiled. 'I love you too, ' smiled back at him. They got lost in each others eyes and the kiss that followed was like a dream come true, the feelings of love and passion overcoming them.

And they lived happily ever after.
