A lightning lit up the sky and her room. could not sleep, shivering under the duvet cover of her hotel bed she found herself ridiculous.
She had been afraid of thunderstorms from when she was a little girl. Back then she found a million places around the house to hide so she wouldn’t see lightning. Covering her ears with her hands in the hope that it would muffle the heavy thundering of the clouds crashing against each other. When woken up in the middle of the night by a thunderstorm she had always run to her parents bedroom and had spent the rest of the night lying between her mother and father. But she grew older and the time had come where she couldn’t slip into her parents bedroom at night when a storm kept her up.

Now, a young woman, usually used her I-pod to keep from hearing the raging thunders. Crawled deep under duvet covers when lightning flashed the skies. Elas, she had forgotten her I-pod on this trip and being in Australia, the chances of going home and get it were as much as Christmas and Easter being on the same day. Another loud thunder made her jump out of bed and run into the bathroom screaming. Her heart raced inside her chest and she breathed heavily. Looking at herself in the bathroom mirror she scolded herself. ‘ , this is ridiculous. You’re too old to be scared of thunderstorms’ Yet another - eventhough muffled - thunder made her jump. ‘Oooh, you need sleep’ she groaned, seeying the bags under her eyes. Then she remembered . was booked in the room next to hers, but then another feeling started in her tummy: nerves.

was deeply in love with . Being the girl who had to dance on stage with him every night was nerve wrecking, the thought of asking him if she could sleep in his bed beside him, was enough to cause a breakdown. Yet if she wanted to be fit the next day, needed to sleep now! She hurried into the bedroom again, grabbed her bathrobe and left her room. Taking the cardkey to her room with her.
Softly she knocked on ’s door. A clock in the hall told her it was 2.30 a.m. would be fast asleep, he was never going to answer the door. She knocked again, a little louder. Again no answer.
was about to slender back to her own room, when the door opened. ‘Wh-.. ?’ looked weary with sleep. ‘H-hey ’ she smiled softly. ‘What’s wrong, did something happen?’ asked. ‘No, nothing happened. I..erm… I was just..’ she didn’t dare continue. opened his door further and stepped into the hallway. ’s jaw nearly dropped to the floor. He was only wearing his boxers shorts. Infront of her stood a gorgeous half naked man who she was majorly crushing on.

‘You were just what.. ?’ asked. He was wondering why this beautiful lady, who he was falling for harder every second of the day, had knocked on his door. The thunder rolling through the air outside, made jump again and didn’t need another word from her. ‘Want to sleep here?’ he smiled softly. ‘Oh, could I?’ she softly wailed. ‘Course. I’ll protect you’ he winked. Unknowingly making her heart beat faster. stepped aside and let her through.
‘So, I’ll sleep on the sofa and you can have the bed’ decided. went beetroot red. ‘Erm.. Actually.. Would you mind.. Sleeping..nexttome’ she said it quickly. ‘You mean..in the bed?’ asked. He swallowed hard. Lying in the same bed. He didn’t know if he could keep away from touching her. ‘Erm.. Yeah. We could.. It’s worth. Yes, I’ll lay beside you’ he nodded. Obviously she needed to feel safe and if she needed someone laying beside her for that, then he’d do it. He was a man and even though he had feelings for her, desired her. He could surely put that aside for one night.

Five minutes later, the two lay in bed. on the left side, on the right side. ‘Thank you, . For doing this for me’ she whispered into the dark. ‘No problem, ’ he whispered back in reply. Then noticed it had gone quiet outside. ‘Erm.. .. I think it’s over’ listened. The only thing she could hear now, was the sound of hard rain coming down from the skies. ‘Oh.. Well. I guess. I.. if it’s over there’s no reason to sleep here is there.’ For a second thought there was regret in the sigh that followed. In the dark he could see her silhouette sit up, he didn’t want her to leave..
It all happened in a split second: reached out to her, swung her legs over the edge, a thunder crashed and lightning lit up Sydney’s skyline. wasn’t sure if what he felt was real, but he swore he could feel ’s body lying right beside him, trembling from fright. ‘ ?’ he asked. ‘yeah?’ he could hear tears in her voice.
With his right arm he reached for the switch. A little light went on. , indeed lay right next to him. Her left arm draped over his chest, her face burried, yet he could see a stray tear run from the corner of her eye down over her cheek. Carefull not to hurt her, he used his right hand to turn her face so he could look at her. ‘I’m here. Don’t cry’ he smiled. ‘I’m scared’ she said with a little voice. ‘I’ll protect you .’ plucked all his courage together and softly brushed her lips with his own.

’s eyes were still closed when ’s lips had gone from hers. ‘ ?’.. opened them. ’s gaze was unsure. ‘Did you kiss me?’ she asked, blushing. ’s eyes went sad, she could tell that he thought she was turning him down. ‘Yes, I did’ he nodded. ‘I..am’ ‘Shhh’ stopped him from talking, then pressed her lips on his.
was surprised, but it didn’t take him long to kiss her back. The kiss grew deeper and more passionate as allowed ’s tongue access to her mouth. Their tongues fought a sweet battle.
Their smooching caused the two to forget about the thunderstorm and soon they lay fast asleep, nestled in eachothers arms.

The next morning, woke up. Her head lay on ’s chest. Then she felt a tingling feeling across her arm. It was , caressing her upper left arm with the tip of his index finger. He had been awake for an hour, watching her sleep in his arms. ‘Morning, beautiful’ he smiled. ‘Morning’ said, followed by a yawn. She sat up. ‘Thanks again, . For making me feel better. pushed away the covers and was about to get out of bed, when stopped her. ‘Where do you think you’re going?’ he asked. ‘ . The storm is over. Last night is over. Lets just let last night be last night, OK?’ ‘No! Not OK!’ shook his head. He crept over the bed to where she sat on the edge. ‘I didn’t kiss you last night to distract you from the storm, . I kissed you because I’ve been dying to kiss you for the last two years’ brushed her hair with his fingers. ‘I’m in love with you, ’ he smiled. felt her heart pound of her chest and her tears well up with eyes. ‘Trying to tell me something?’ chuckled. Her glazed over look told him all he needed to know. He pulled her backwards. ‘I love you, .’ ‘Last night told me, you’re my safest place to hide, . I love you too. So much and for so long now’ ‘Shhhh’ stopped her from saying anything further and engulfed her with a strong passionate kiss.
