‘Welcome to the mansion! joked when he opened the door for who was the last one to show up for his and ’s move in party. laughed and hugged the both of them before she went in the kitchen where everybody sat around the table enjoying a drink.
‘!!’ the rest of the Westlife guys including Brian shouted as she walked trough the door.
‘Hey guys! Had a few to many beers, have ya?’ she smiled at them and sat down next to and .
‘I think they had one or five to many…’ smiled and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
‘How about you?’ she laughed nodding towards the bottles on the table in front of him.
‘They’re not mine’, he joked.
laughed at her friend, who she had known for quite a long time now, actually she had known all of them a long time but especially who she got to know at the age of 10 when she went to visit her aunt and uncle in .
At the time she lived in with her family but her family condition wasn’t that good so her mum thought it would be a good idea to get out of the house in the summer.
So she was sent to where she lived with her aunt and uncle who lived right next to and his family. Her aunt and ’s mum where close friends and one time when ’s aunt was going over there for a cup of tee came along, showed her his room where she found some toy cars which they started to play with and from that day on they’d been friends.
She was introduced to and and to and Brian once Westlife got started.
They all became good friends but would always be the best friend and six years ago when decided to move to the same city as lived it they had become room mates. At first she had her own apartment not far from ’s house but just two weeks after moving in it burned down so offered her to stay with him until she found a new place of her own but she never bothered to even look, they both liked living together so she decided not to waste any energy.
‘So ! Your birthday’s coming up, right? said, interrupting the conversation that she and were having.
‘Yeah, in a few days, said laughing at as he had too much to drink to be able to speak correctly.
‘What’re you gonna do then? asked, choosing to ignore that she and were both laughing at him. ‘My sister is coming over from ’. ‘Sounds like fun’, he said before walking away.
‘Are you exited? asked as they watched walking, very unstable, away from them.
‘I’m more excited about seeing my sister then I am about my birthday, I haven’t seen her in such a long time’, said to answer ’s question. ‘No friends from then? asked. ‘No’, said watching as almost fell down from the couch. ‘You don’t have that many friends, do you? joked and in return gave him a slap on the head.
’s Birthday
‘ for God’s sake would you hurry up! yelled from the bottom of the stairs. ‘Calm down sister. It’s not like the club’s gonna go anywhere, is it? ’s sister looked out from the bathroom where she had spent the past 35 minutes. ‘No but… It’s my birthday! You should be nice to me! ‘I just spent hours on an air-plane from ! You should be nice to me! ‘But…! tried to speak up against her sister. ‘, go have a drink! shouted from the upstairs bathroom.
She went in to the living room and sat down next to a friend of hers, who was there to walk with and her sister to the club where the birthday party took place. She handed her a glass of Whiskey. ‘Keep ‘em coming’, she joked.
The next day
‘Remind me to never drink again’, said when she walked into the kitchen where her sister stood. She quickly helped herself to a cup of coffee and an aspirin to ease the headache.
‘That bad? her sister asked laughing at her, knowing that didn’t drink that often or that much. didn’t get much of an answer just a nod.
‘Hey, you and gave each other looks all night, is something going on? asked.
‘No’, sighed, looking down into the coffee cup.
‘Sounds like you would like there to be something… Do you? she said looking straight in the eyes knowing that she wouldn’t be able to lie to her. ‘Yes, I guess I do and I haven’t told you this but there was something going on but we ended it when we realised it could tear our friendship apart, offcourse after we ended it I fell for him and I’ve been having feelings about him ever since’, she revealed to her sister. ‘What do you mean something was going on?
‘Well we had been watching movies and eating popcorn all evening, I was going to bed and we stood outside my bedroom door talking and he was meant to kiss me on the cheek but I must’ve moved my head because it landed straight on my mouth. We started kissing and before I knew it we lay in bed and… you know’, said thinking back to that night, that amazing night when they forgot about their strong friendship and became lovers.
‘You need to tell him how you feel. Otherwise you won’t be able to move on and you’re gonna be stuck, they’re going to be at the pub tonight aren’t they? We’re going! said.
‘Didn’t I just tell you to remind me to never drink again?
Later that night
‘Who’s taking a long time getting ready tonight? teased her little sister who stood and looked at herself in the mirror. ‘I just wanna look nice, that’s all! smiled thinking about . ‘You do look good, wish you could spend this much time in front of the mirror on ordinary days’, said. She knew that if this was an ordinary going-to-the-pub-night would’ve been ready hours ago. Now she was wearing a pair of really nice jeans and a cute top that really showed of her good figure and curves.
The first person that spotted when she and her sister stepped through the door to the pub was , he was sitting at the bar along with . had just finished telling how he never could find a decent girl to settle down with and he was not really in the mood for talking to anyone else about anything.
‘ can I talk to you? said feeling like a shy school girl who was about to ask the boy she had a crush on to go steady with her. ‘Yeah, sure’, answered although he wasn’t really in the mood he couldn’t say no to his best friend. Once they walked away from the crowed took a deep breath and looked straight in the eyes.
‘I’m… I love you, I’m in love with you’, she said and look at him to try to read his face but she couldn’t, after 14 years of friendship she couldn’t see on his face how he felt.
‘, I’m not in the mood for games right now. I had a really bad day and the last thing I need right now is your jokes, ok? I’ll see you later, he said and walked off leaving his friend with tears in her eyes.
‘What was that about? asked when came back to the bar and sat down. ‘She was trying to have some fun and came up with this lame joke’, said and finished his beer.
‘What did she say? asked with curiosity as he was watching as made her way out of the club with tears running down her face and he really wanted to know what was going on.
‘She said she was in love with me’, he said with a little smile, thinking about their nights together but still convinced that the whole thing was a joke.
‘, I think she was serious and you might wanna go after her’, said pointing at who was know at the door where she turned around and watched ’s face change completely as he saw her teary face.
‘Looks like I made a mess again, haven’t I? said looking at , who just nodded, then he started to look at the door that had just walked out of and then he said ‘Now is the time you tell me everything that has been going on between you two’ .
‘We slept together a few times a couple of years ago but then we decided to stop before one of us fell for the other and we haven’t talked about it since, I was starting to think she had forgotten all about it’, he said and looked around the crowded room thinking that the room wasn’t the same without her.
‘You slept with ? Well that’s smart, don’t you think? said staring angrily at .
‘The smart thing would have been sticking with her’. sighed feeling even worse now then he did before.
‘Wait… Are you in love with her? asked trying to understand what had meant by that. ‘Yes, I guess I have been since those few times’.
‘Then you have to tell her. And I mean it won’t be any challenge finding her seeing that you live in the same house’, said trying to make feel a little bit better.
When the cab arrived at ’s house he noticed it was dark in all the windows, none of the lights were on. Maybe she went to bed, he tried to tell himself but when he opened the door he felt that something or somebody was gone.
‘? he whispered as he walked through her bedroom door not wanting to wake her up if she was home and asleep. He soon found that she wasn’t home, some of her clothes were gone and the teddy bear, he had given her, that always sat on top of her bed was gone too. left ’s room and went to his own, he lay down on his bed trying not to think about and the things she had told him tonight but unfortunately he couldn’t stop thinking about any of what had happened. He took his cell phone from his pocket and dialled ’s number. ‘! She’s not here’, said when his friend answered the phone. ‘Then where is she? , who woke up by the sound of his ring tone, said. ‘How the fuck am I supposed to know that! I’m going crazy here, I can’t even close my eyes without seeing her face in front of me’, cried out. ‘Well try calling , she might know something…’ said just wanting to go to bed again.
At first ’s sister didn’t want to tell anything because of how he had treated but once he started to explain what had happened and how he really felt she thought she’d give him a chance, after all was in love with him so it couldn’t hurt her to hear say he loved her too. So told that had been very upset, she had went home to the house she shared with , packed some clothes and then she called to tell her that she was going to for a while to visit some family members.
As soon as got off the phone with he pulled out a bag from under his bed and threw down some clothes, after that he went to the airport to go to , to go after the women he loved.
The next day in
When arrived at the airport in he still hadn’t figured out what to say to her, he just knew he had to get her back some how.
Once he got into the cab he started to think about how much he had hurt his best friend that night, how stupid he could be just because he had a bad day, a few beers and wasn’t in the mood for joking around, the thought that she might be serious about her feelings for him didn’t cross his mind. Damn alcohol combined with bad days he thought to him self as the cab took a right turn to get to ’s hotel, he had found out from ’s sister who had told him where she stayed after he had told her what he’d done and how he felt.
He paid the driver and then he went into the lobby, he already knew which room she was staying in so he went straight to the lifts.
Stepping out of it he had never felt so nervous in his whole life, his hands were sweaty, his knees were shaking as he knocked on the door. He knocked again looking at his watch thinking that she might be asleep but she still didn’t answer the door. Maybe she knows it’s me and she doesn’t want to open, he thought. Just as he was about to walk away the doors to the lift opened and there she was.
‘, what are you doing here? she said. ‘Can we talk? he asked trying to look her in the eyes but she kept turning her head away. ‘I guess’, said and started to make her way towards her room, she opened the door and let him in. ‘About what you said’, said as she closed the door behind them. ‘I really don’t wanna talk about that, especially not with you’, she said trying to walk away from him. ‘No, , don’t go! he said grabbing her arm as she tried to walk past him. ‘Let me go! she said trying to get out of his grip.
‘I need you to hear what I have to say’, he said with tears in his eyes, ‘I need you to know how I feel and when you know then you can walk away…’
‘Alright then, talk’, she said, trying to hold her tears back and the fact that was crying didn’t make it any easier for not to.
‘The highlights of my childhood are the summers we spent together, nothing’s ever going to change the fact that you’re my best friend and you’ve been supporting me in more ways then I can tell you. I would give up my life to make you happy, I love you. I love you so much it hurts when we’re apart, it hurts to see you sad, hell it even hurts to stand here not knowing if you’re going to forgive me or not, not knowing if I’m going to be able to live the dream of spending the rest of my life with you’.
‘You wanna spend the rest of your life with me? said not being able to hold back her tears anymore.
‘Yes offcourse I do’, he said wiping away a tear from her cheek and then leaning in to kiss her but she pulled away. ‘Wait! Do you think you can come in here, give your little speech, kiss me and then everything’s gonna be ok? she said. ‘, don’t get mad’, he said and wiped away a tear from his own face. ‘Now I was joking’, she smiled as he took her face in his hands and gave her a kiss. ‘You think you’re funny, huh? laughed as they pulled away. ‘Actually I do’, she said and kissed him again.
‘Marry me’, said a little while later as they sat in the sofa just enjoying each others company.
‘What? looked at him with a confused look.
‘Marry me! He said again with a smile and continued, ‘I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you so marry me. What do you say? Will you do me the honour to be your husband?
‘Yes, offcourse I will!
